My name is Alex Thio. I’m a versatile classical wedding pianist who also performs fluently in all musical styles including jazz, pop, sacred and gospel. As of writing, I have had the pleasure of being the wedding pianist for 63 wedding couples, whose wedding music styles have ranged from the traditional to the contemporary.

Professional Biography
Alex Thio is a classically-trained pianist who received his undergraduate degree in piano performance at Grace College, Indiana and his graduate degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Hailing from the city of Singapore, Alex is currently a piano instructor in piano performance and music theory and offers private lessons in the Cincinnati area.
Besides instructing in piano, Alex is an active accompanist and adjudicator for several national and regional performance events including the American Guild of Music. He is primarily a brass and woodwind accompanist and has been involved in many performances throughout the nation. For several years, he was the pianist for the touring and performing Christian brass group, Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass. He is featured in several of their recordings including the Americana and Christmas CDs.
He is a frequent collaborative artist with the North Atlantic Brass Band Association and the International Women’s Brass Conference and has premiered several brass and piano works by current American composers, in collaboration with renown brass artistes including Gail Robertson, Stacy Baker, Timothy Northcut, Jay Hunsberger and Earle Louder. His latest recording is a collaborative project with Stacy Baker (tuba) and Gail Robertson (euphonium) entitled Symbiosis and will be released in Fall 2009.
